Ashrey Mokoena started his Football Career when he was 5 to 6 years.By that time he knew nothing about it.He explained ,his father s’ brother papa Smingo had a team called Smingo FC from Pienaar in Tembisa.He always pleaded or cried to papa Smingo to put him inside the field, because he wasn’t leaving him behind, always goes with him every Saturdays games .One day came ,it was under 10 s’ game leading 3-0, papa Smingo decided to put him in , describing the situation stated he was just running around the field with less touches of the ball.The game made him to decided to play soccer, because he had fun during the game,also it was a Dream came true.After he experienced the game,he decided to attend the team s’ training sessions.He was the youngest player,Papa Smingo took a initiative to taught him Football basics for example how to pass the ball etc.According to Ashley,when he grew up ,never thought he would want to be this serious but insisted everything changed when he went to grade 8 at Khaliphani Secondary school,that’s where he started playing football serious.He met a boy called Quinton nicknamed”snake” former Mbombela City Lads player,he was 4 to 5 older than him ,but he helped him to gained confidence during training sessions and games also he was Communicating with him very well.Ashley told us ,he always wanted to play like him because according to him ,he is the Best Midfielder around his Kasi.Ashley s’ biggest ambition ,is to change the environment of Lekazi (his Kasi),by opening many doors for upcoming youngsters and also the most importantly to change his Mother s’ lifestyle , Explained that’s why he is working very harder everyday to achieve that goal.When we asked him ,what challenges did he experienced since began playing football? said he did not have challenges, except his parents were not sure if they letting him invest his time in the right full place which letting him to play soccer.
Lessons he learnt during his Football Journey is that there is nothing good that will come easy in life,had to fight for everything,by fighting he meant working harder.The person motivates Ashley to do better everyday , mentioned his Elder Brother Austin Mokoena , always call him every day especially now is in Johannesburg.Regarding South African football Development, highlighted would like to see SAFA establish development leagues in different provinces so everyone can showcase their talents and have a fair chance.Ashley s’ favourite Football idol ,said” it’s Neymar , reason being he always make a way to create opportunities especially using different tricks ,also Ashley emphasize defenders don’t relax especially Neymar when is inside the field.For him his Best Mentor in Football mentioned Coach George From Mpumalanga School of Excellence, because always pushed him to work harder , also if he didn’t play well in particular game would go back to him ,to seek advice.Going back a bid regarding our questions concerning MSE ,said” Joining the Best Academy in Mpumalanga was the Best thing ever happened to him also the easy part he worked with the MSE coaches in 2017 and 2018 , stated MSE Management are very supportive for everything ,also the Coaches referring to Sizwe Yende , Wonderboy Myanga and George Kgoale also taught him many things regarding Football Development.For joining Sekhukhune United MDC was a Blessing from God for him , because at Sekhukhune ,they welcomed him with warm hands also the institution very happy to acquire the service of him . Ashley explained the training methods “said” is different and very professional,they move the ball very faster and weight of the pass must be on point,and also he was happy with his debut because he played 80mins .For 2021/2022 season, Ashley S’ goals is to improve and try to fit in regarding the Diski Challenge League and become one of the Best players in League.He believes that’s just a matter of time.Words for his supporters back home , Explained,they must know that he is working very harder for them and he believe giving up has no room in his life.In 3 years time he wants to see himself playing in premier League for any team playing for that league and will be happy if God Blessed him with ManCity or Liverpool.Encouraging words for upcoming youngsters,”said” they must keep on working harder,you will never know who is watching you , because soccer is full of surprises and it’s Amazing.Thoughts regarding our online publications,for him the online news opened doors for many upcoming professional footballers also helped him to share his Football Journey with the viewers and his supporters around South Africa,also it motivates him to work even harder so he can share many upcoming Football stories.
